Emma Ligon is an associate in Galloway’s Gulfport, Mississippi office. She focuses her practice in defense litigation, representing both individuals and businesses in suits primarily involving automobile accidents, premises liability, and first party claims. Prior to joining Galloway, Emma worked as an associate attorney at Downey & Cleveland, LLP, where she handled a variety of suits involving automobile accidents, slip and fall injuries, homeowners association disputes, and property damage. Emma has been lead defense counsel in all her civil jury and bench trials. Additionally, Emma has successfully resolved several cases in mediations and arbitrations. Finally, Emma has extensive experience in motions practice including drafting both procedural and dispositive motions in both State and Appellate Courts in Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit.

Emma received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Georgia in 2010 and is a 2013 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, where she was a member of the Women’s Law Society, the Student Bar Association, and the Public Interest Law Council. During her first law school summer, Emma was also accepted into the University of Georgia’s Summer Study Abroad Program in China where she attended classes at Universities in Beijing and Shanghai. Upon graduating, Emma was awarded a Public Interest Fellowship from the University of Georgia School of Law.

  • Achieved a defense verdict after a multi-day civil jury trial in DeKalb County, Georgia
  • Successfully drafted and argued a Motion for Summary Judgment for a client involved in a multi-car, multi-injury accident on the basis of no proof of negligence
  • Assisted in the multi-million dollar settlement of a medical malpractice claim involving paralysis

In addition to the above representative matters, Emma was also published multiple times in the “Bench & Bar” column of the Cherokee County Tribute.

Emma is a native of Georgia, now living in Ocean Springs, Mississippi with her husband and young son. Outside of work, Emma is an avid reader and loves to travel. She also enjoys yoga.
