GJTBS Lawyer, Ron T. Capehart Appointed as a Director of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel
Houston, TX (December, 16 2011) – Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr & Smith (GJTBS) is pleased to announce that Ron T. Capehart of its Houston office has been appointed to serve as a Director at Large for the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. The appointment was confirmed by a vote of the general membership at the TADC’s Annual Meeting in September. The appointment began November 1. Additionally, Ron will serve on the TADC Publications Committee.
TADC is an association of civil trial, personal injury defense and commercial litigation attorneys, and is active in assuring a balanced, accessible and effective civil justice system. Capehart has been a member of TADC since 2000, and has served on the faculty of the TADC Trial Academy since 2010.
TADC is the largest defense association in the U.S., with over 1700 members throughout Texas. It annually provides continuing legal education to its members, offers a trial academy to young lawyers, monitors legislation affecting the civil practice of law, and publishes a magazine and newsletters.
Capehart focuses his practice on civil trials and arbitrations, within the maritime, trucking and energy sectors, representing vessel owners and operators, motor carriers and oil and gas companies in Texas and throughout the Gulf South region. Ron serves on the Firm’s Marine Casualty Emergency Response Team and Trucking Emergency Response Team to respond to client needs around the clock and around the globe when significant casualties occur. Additionally, Ron is active in industry-related organizations and serves in various leadership positions in the Transportation Lawyers Association, Texas Motor Transport Association, Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association and the Houston Mariners Club. Ron received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law and is licensed to practice in Texas.
