Galloway Johnson Attorneys, Scott Traweek and Alexis Kessler, of the firm’s Pensacola, Florida office, were granted a Motion to Dismiss with Prejudice against Llano Financing Group, LLC relating to a lawsuit filed against a Florida appraiser. Llano has initiated numerous lawsuits against appraisers in multiple states claiming to be the successor in interest to financial institutions that issued mortgages allegedly in reliance on appraisals prepared by the appraisers. This is believed to be the first decision in which Llano has had this type of suit dismissed on a failure to establish legal standing to bring a cause of action.
