Juvie Cruz Cardenas Nominated for The 2020 Federation of Insurance Women of Texas, Inc.’s Community Service Award

Galloway is pleased to announce that Juvie Cruz Cardenas has been nominated for the 2020 Federation of Insurance Women of Texas (FIWT), Inc.’s Community Service Award. The purpose of this award is to honor a member of FIWT for outstanding community service abilities and accomplishments with their local association, local community, and FIWT.

Outside of law, Juvie enjoys giving back to her local and international communities. She has a specific interest in organizations that empower those living in poverty or provide mentorship, education and career opportunities to youth and women.

With the Houston Insurance Professionals (the local chapter of FIWT), Juvie has been afforded the opportunity to work with The Kinder Emergency Shelter, a coed 24-hour Harris County program licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to provide emergency child-care services to youth.  Specifically, she has Co-Chaired the HIP Christmas at Kinder (2019) and the HIP Easter at Kinder events (2020).

Under her two-year tenure as President of the Filipino Young Professionals of Houston (“FYP”), 501(c)3 non-profit, she led a team of professionals and community leaders towards accomplishing many goals such as raising funds for academic scholarships for students, to provide international natural disaster relief, and to build homes for families living in poverty. FYP was recognized on numerous occasions by the U.S. Congress and the Texas Senate during her administration. For her role as President of FYP of Houston, she received Certificate of Appreciation from the Texas Senate in (2014 and 2015).  During her leadership, FYP of Houston received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition (2014) and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Texas Senate (2015).

She has also volunteered at and/or fundraised for the BP MS-150, Houston Food Bank, the Texas Children’s Hospital, Catholic Charities – Caritas initiatives, the Houston Area Women’s Center, DePelchin Children’s Center, SEARCH Homeless Services, and other organizations.

Her and her husband aspire to foster the philanthropic spirt in their 2.5 year old son.
