Jared Nelson of Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith has been named a 2025 On The Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer by the American Bar Association. This national ABA award recognizes young lawyers for excellence in legal service and impact on the profession and community.
The Lafayette litigator will be recognized at the 2025 ABA Annual Meeting in Toronto, ON, Canada in August. Jared is an active member of the ABA and its Young Lawyers Division, serving as the Men of Color Project Chair, Assembly Assistant, and YLD Scholar. He was previously recognized by the ABA YLD as the 2024 Star of the Quarter Award Recipient.
Before practicing law, Jared took an unconventional and nontraditional approach to litigation, first building a successful career in public service as a non-profit case manager and state parole officer. He now focuses his practice on workers’ compensation defense for businesses and insurers across Louisiana. Jared’s unique ability to combine real-world experience with legal strategy makes him a valuable partner in complex workers’ compensation matters.
