Gulf South regional firm elects three accomplished attorneys to its Board of Directors

New Orleans, Louisiana (November 1, 2011) – Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr and Smith (GJTBS), a PLC, is pleased to announce the election of Peter Bourgeois and David Moragas of their New Orleans office and Sarah Baggett of their Tampa office to its Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Peter A. Bourgeois  came to GJTBS as an associate in the New Orleans office in 2004. Peter graduated from Louisiana State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and received his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University in 2001. Upon graduation, Peter served as a law clerk to the Honorable John L. Peytavin in the 23rd Judicial District Court. He subsequently served as a staff attorney at the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal and a law clerk to the Honorable Clarence McManus. Since joining the firm, his practice has been concentrated in construction, insurance defense, employer’s liability, and amusement, sports and leisure.  He is licensed to practice in the Eastern, Western and Middle U.S. District Courts in Louisiana and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Peter is a member of many professional associations, including the American, New Orleans and Louisiana State Bar Associations, Ducks Unlimited and the New Orleans Audubon Institute.

David M. Moragas joined the New Orleans office of GJTBS as an associate in 2005.  Mr. Moragas received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Services from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1997 and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 2004. During law school, he was employed full time as a rehabilitation case manager. Mr. Moragas is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and district courts and the Coushatta Tribal Court for the Coushatta Indian Nation, and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.  Mr. Moragas’ practice is focused in construction, corporate transactions, employer’s liability, property insurance and subrogation.

Sarah M. Baggett is part of the insurance defense litigation group for GJTBS’ Tampa office. She practices in the area of general litigation and has successfully defended and tried cases throughout Florida involving automobile negligence, premises liability, real estate broker and agent malpractice, products liability and construction defects. Sarah is a native of Jacksonville and prior to joining GJTBS, she practiced insurance defense with firms located in Jacksonville and Stuart, Florida.  She is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, as well as the Middle and Southern District federal courts for the state of Florida. Sarah graduated from the University of Florida, College of Law with honors and was a member of the state champion UF Trial Team.
