New Orleans, LA, May 11, 2011- Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr & Smith (GJTBS) won the 2011 Burton Award for the Best Law Firm Advertisement by the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA).
The Burton Awards, perhaps the most distinguished awards program in the legal profession, was established in 1999, and is dedicated principally to rewarding effective legal writing. The program honors partners and managers in law firms, as well as law school students who use plain, clear and concise language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese.
The awards program was open to ALA members (and their employers) only. ALA is proud to announce and congratulate the 2011 ALA/Burton Awards Winners. The Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr & Smith, PLC advertisement in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans Tournament Magazine was selected the 2011 Best Law Firm Advertisement. The 2011 Burton Awards Program will be held in the Coolidge Auditorium on June 13, and will be followed by cocktails and dinner in the Great Hall of The Library of Congress.
Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will be the guest speaker. In addition, Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer will accept the 2011 Book of the Year in Law Award. Katherine Jenkins, a major Welsh soprano opera, theater and classical singing star will perform.
