Anthony Sullivan, a Director in the firm’s Houston office, recently secured a complete victory for a contractor client in a two-week construction trial in Galveston County. The client, a Texas-based contractor, was not paid for its work on an apartment complex after Hurricane Ike. The client sued to be paid and also faced numerous counterclaims for defective work, overcharges, and other similar complaints. Anthony and his client were not only successful in the defense of the counterclaims, but the jury awarded a judgment of approximately $2.4 million on our affirmative claims, close to $300,000 more than the initial demand. Interest and attorneys’ fees ultimately pushed the judgment to about $5 million.
