Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith congratulates Associate Jared Nelson of Lafayette on his recognition from the National Bar Association as a recipient of the 40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocate Award for 2026. He and his fellow honorees were recognized at the National Bar Association’s annual meeting in Nashville.
The 40 Under 40 is a highly competitive, nationwide honor that recognizes emerging legal talent. Attorneys are recognized for their professional excellence, leadership, outstanding advocacy, and service to the legal profession and community.
Nelson is an active member of the National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and was previously awarded the 2024 Lendon J. Alexander Advocacy & Leadership Award. His additional outreach includes the American Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the Louisiana State Bar Association.
His practice at Galloway focuses on commercial litigation, premises liability, insurance defense, and workers’ compensation. Nelson draws from his diverse background in both private law and government service, and his non-traditional journey to the practice of law, in building relationships built on trust, communication, and an understanding of his client’s legal objectives.
