New Lawyers and Sisters Following Father’s Footsteps in Practicing at Galloway

In the spring of 2024, law schools across the country deferred degrees upon their hard working and dedicated graduates. For one Galloway family, the recognition and celebration was doubled, as Rachel Grimley and Catherine Grimley both graduated from The University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law.

Rachel and Catherine are the daughters of Director Mike Grimley of our Pensacola office and are known as the Grimlets – the girls of Mike’s set of triplets. “Born to argue,” both began working with Galloway as summer legal interns before becoming summer law clerks during law school.

Rachel believes the legal profession “provides an avenue for me to help solve clients’ complex legal issues through critical thinking, collaboration, and persuasive advocacy.” She will begin her law practice in our Tampa office.

Catherine, who will practice in our Houston office, loves the way that law makes one think – “every argument has a counterargument – it’s like a puzzle, and I am looking forward to finally applying everything I learned in school to help my clients.”

By joining the dynamic and growing team of attorneys at Galloway, the Grimleys become the second set of father-daughter lawyers in the firm. Madeline Smith, an Associate in our Lafayette office and the daughter of Director Thomas Smith in Houston, began her practice with Galloway in 2018.

Both Rachel and Catherine are looking forward to following their father’s footsteps at Galloway. Rachel commented, “I’ve spent my whole life watching my father professionally, meticulously, and zealously advocate for the needs of his clients. These values are at the heart of what Galloway does, and I am excited to represent clients in the same way as my father has.”

Echoing her sister’s sentiments, Catherine added, “Throughout his 34 years at Galloway, my father has showed me the importance of hard work, integrity, dedication, and perseverance in both how he represents his clients and treats those around him. It’s an honor to be able to join Galloway and my father’s legacy.”

Reflecting on the momentous occasion, Mike commented, “As parents, we dedicate a substantial part of our lives to the education and development of our children so that they can have rewarding professional careers.  I felt an extra sense of pride and excitement when I learned that my daughters Rachel and Catherine decided to become lawyers.  But that pride and excitement became more significant and personal when they both chose our firm, and I am delighted to have them starting as new lawyers in the fall.”

We’re proud of what we’ve built at our firm, where daughters want to follow in their father’s footsteps in practicing the law. At Galloway, we feel like a small family firm with large-firm resources and numerous successes in the boardroom and courtroom. With more than 130 attorneys in thirteen offices across the Gulf South and Midwest, our team continues to set the bar high for legal defense services while exceeding our clients’ expectations for results.
