New Orleans Litigator Ryan O’Connor Named Frank L. Maraist Award Finalist

Ryan O’Connor, a defense attorney in Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith’s New Orleans offices, has been recognized as a finalist for the Frank L. Maraist Award, presented by the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. The distinguished award, which will presented at an awards dinner on August 7, 2025, highlights young defense attorneys demonstrating excellence in litigation, professional service, the defense bar, and community involvement in Louisiana. 

“I am deeply grateful for this nomination and truly honored to be recognized alongside such dedicated and talented professionals,” O’Connor said. He added, “I owe special thanks to my mentors at Galloway, whose guidance and unwavering commitment to excellence have played a pivotal role in my professional growth.” 

Ryan obtained his J.D. from Tulane University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Duke University. At Galloway, he focuses his practice on defending transportation companies, healthcare providers, and businesses facing liability claims. His uncompromising attention to detail informs his proactive defense strategies, positioning his clients to achieve their legal and business objectives. 

Ryan began his legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Regina Bartholomew-Woods at the Orleans Parish Civil District Court. He has been previously recognized as Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2025.
