Galloway Johnson attorneys Michael Ruel and Autumn George of the firm’s Tampa office successfully defended a sinkhole lawsuit in Pasco County, Florida. In this damages only case, Plaintiffs claimed in excess of policy limits and sought application of the Valued Policy Law. Following a three day trial, the Judge granted a directed verdict in favor of the defense finding the Plaintiffs had presented no evidence to show the Valued Policy Law applied to the facts of the case. The jury then returned a verdict substantially less than the policy limit.
