Louisiana trial attorney Richard Duplantier, a Director at Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith in the firm’s New Orleans offices, has been selected to be a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In joining ABOTA, Rick brings decades of trial experience, expertise, and insights to the invitation-only organization.
ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Membership is highly selective. Candidates must have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers, have tried at least seven civil jury trials to conclusion, and possess additional litigation experience. Furthermore, ABOTA members exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity, and professionalism.
With more than three decades at Galloway, Richard Duplantier is a senior partner and highly respected New Orleans trial attorney. His significant expertise in litigation has protected corporations’ business interests in several high-profile, high-value cases. Rick has a substantial and extensive history of trials to verdict with a trial success rate of over eighty percent.
His membership in ABOTA adds to an impressive list of recognitions, including Best Lawyers, Martindale-Hubbell, New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law, and the New Orleans Bar Association. Rick also served as a Commissioner of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Authority-East following an appointment by Governor John Bel Edwards.
Rick’s leadership was instrumental in Galloway’s response and recovery from Hurricane Katrina in both the return to New Orleans and the establishment of the St. Louis office, as was featured in the firm’s story marking the twentieth anniversary in 2025.
