Kelly Hartmann looks for innovative ways to resolve his client’s issues, focusing on serving his clients’ needs without compromising their expectations. This includes balancing aggressive litigation with cost-effective resolution, with an eye toward achieving the client’s business objectives.
Kelly regularly represents energy, maritime and construction firms, as well as their underwriters and other insurance companies. He also has extensive experience in complex litigation including death cases, multi-party personal injury claims, lawsuits arising from drilling operations, cases arising under the Jones Act and general maritime law, health care, and trucking liability matters.
In addition to litigating and trying cases, Kelly also drafts, reviews, and renders legal opinions on contracts and other commercial documents, including master service agreements, general and subcontractor agreements, business startup, and employer dispute resolution programs within the health care and energy industries.
In his free time, Kelly plays golf, snowboards, competes in triathlons, and spends time with his family.
Representative Matters
- Obtained an outstanding result for a major oilfield services company in a personal injury case valued at more than $3.5 million and tried in Texas. Our client had to pay less than 10% of the initial claim in a case tried against one of the top plaintiff attorneys in the country.
- Obtained summary judgment in an oil and gas contractual defense and indemnity case in Texas, convincing both the trial court and appellate court that a transportation exclusion did not apply to the interpretation of the contract.
- Obtained an outstanding result in a multi-party construction defect lawsuit valued at more than $10 million, resolving the matter for less than half what was originally demanded.
