A licensed attorney for almost 30 years, Greg Thompson has been litigating workers’ compensation, employer liability, and general civil matters for his entire career. He has handled well over a thousand administrative hearings and trials before the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission, and over 30 jury trials before the district courts.
Born and raised in Texas, Greg met and married his college sweetheart while studying at the University of Texas. Greg, his wife, and his two daughters live in Southwest Texas where they raise Registered Beefmaster cattle, and have won awards throughout the State of Texas with them.
Representative Matters
- Represented workers’ compensation case involving the injured workers’ extent of injury in which it was alleged the claimant’s stroke and neurological deficits were caused by his compensable head injury. The case was lost before the administrative agency and appealed and won on behalf of the insurance carrier at the district court level resulting in estimated savings of approximately $1 million dollars.
- Represented workers’ compensation case in which a worker suffered several herniated disks necessitating surgery while loading items into his vehicle that were purchased from his employer during working hours and while “on the clock”. The case was tried and then determined that the employee had deviated from his employment and the injury was not compensable resulting in estimated savings of $500,000. The case was designated a significant case by the workers’ compensation commission and reported as an “s” decision.
- Represented a construction accident resulting in electrocution/death with a $10 million demand resulting in a defense verdict following 2-week jury trial.
- Represented construction accident resulting in broken back with a $8 million demand, which resulted in a defense verdict following a one-week jury trial.
- Represented an insurance subrogation matter resulting in 4-week jury trial, which settled for $1,000,000 during jury deliberations.
