Diversity

Galloway is a beacon for law firms in the South, embracing a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our diverse backgrounds and perspectives make us better advocates, improve our client outcomes, and strengthen our ties to the communities we serve. Our goal is to attract and develop the most talented and motivated professionals while ensuring fairness, respect, and opportunity for advancement regardless of race, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected status.

Galloway’s commitment to diversity is reflected in our attorneys’ civic, legal, and industry leadership, including the following programs and initiatives:

Annual Scholarship Program with Three Law Schools Associated with Historically Black Colleges and Universities

This year, Galloway began an annual scholarship program partnering with the following three law schools, associated with historically black colleges and universities, to award $30,000 in scholarships to diverse law students.

  • Southern University Law Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  • Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Houston, Texas
  • Florida A&M University College of Law, Orlando, Florida

Yearly Participation in the Vault and Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) Law Firm Diversity Survey

MCCA and Vault have developed a database of historical survey results to make it easier for in-house counsel to track diversity within a particular firm and for law firms to benchmark their progress against their peers. Updated annually with survey data collected directly from more than 200 law firms, the Vault/MCCA Diversity Database is the only comprehensive database of its kind in the legal profession.

Founding National Legal Partner of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NLGCC) National Legal Partnership

The NGLCC National Legal Partnership is designed specifically for law firms to maximize supplier diversity and diversity and inclusion (D&I) opportunities. The Partnership provides a unique opportunity to interact with LGBT and allied members, the LGBT business community, and NGLCC corporate partners who value inclusive diversity measures. These three audiences allow National Legal Partners to grow their firms through (1) recruitment and retention of LGBT talent, (2) purchases that support LGBT businesses, and (3) the cultivation of new clients.

Commitment to and Support of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Diversity Pledge

Galloway is a proud signatory of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Diversity Statement of Principles.

Sponsorship of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Minority Job Fair

Galloway served as a gold level sponsor of the Minority Job Fair, hosted by the Louisiana State Bar Association. We believe that our leadership in such endeavors forms an essential part of our commitment to diversity in the legal profession.

Sponsorship of the Texas Minority Counsel Program

Galloway proudly serves as a sponsor of the Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP), which is a client development, networking, and continuing legal education (CLE) event for diverse attorneys in Texas. The TMCP was created in 1993 with the mission of increasing opportunities for minority, women, and LGBT attorneys who provide legal services to corporate and government clients, and to expose those organizations to the legal talent of diverse attorneys in Texas.
