9th Annual Galloway Claims and Litigation Conference New Orleans Builds on Successful Tradition
Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith hosted its ninth annual Claims and Litigation Conference in New Orleans on October 22, 2026. With its largest number of participants so far, the Conference gathered Galloway attorneys, claims professionals, and industry experts in an engaging event to discuss ideas, perspectives, and challenges. Attendees from across the Gulf South and Midwest gained valuable insights and fostered professional connections.
As a premier corporate defense firm offering pragmatic representation and outstanding client value, Galloway continues to host events that lead to positive reviews and real business impact.
Generative AI Strategy in Litigation
In the opening session, Galloway Director Jason Wilson moderated a panel on an emerging issue in the litigation landscape: the ethical and effective implementation of Generative AI in the claims process. Wilson was joined by in-house counsel and leaders in data intelligence to explore how to stay on the cutting edge of technology to improve the claims process and experience. While the large volume of data has always been available, Generative AI can change traditional methods by understanding and analyzing large sets of data and evidence in a different way.
People are still need to verify and challenge, and there is still room for human judgment in using AI throughout the process. One panelist commented, “ChatGPT might pass the Bar but it will never be a lawyer.” AI is not providing legal advice but factual outputs that can truncate the time necessary to handle a complex claim.
Negotiation and Litigation Strategies
Mediators provided their expertise and feedback into effective negotiation strategies, equipping participants with approaches that can be useful to obtain results.
In another session, Galloway Director Tim Hassinger led a discussion on the volatile litigation landscape, particularly the impact of nuclear verdicts on primary and excess risk. Corporate claims professionals added their insights into the challenging environment, from anti-corporate sentiment to jury trends.
Mock Trial
In an engaging and thought-provoking session, Galloway Director Mike Grimley and Hassinger participated in a mock trial. Case details were presented before an in-person focus group deliberated and provided their reactions to evidence, arguments, and themes. Following the live deliberations, the panel debriefed and discussed key takeaways from the mock jury. Participants received a first-hand look into defense strategies and what matters to potential jurors.
