Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith Managing Director Jason Waguespack was highlighted in the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board August 2024 Newsletter. Jason serves as a LADB Hearing Committee member.
Below is the Hearing Committee Member Spotlight:
A desire to give back to the legal profession and the community led Jason Waguespack to volunteer as a lawyer hearing committee member. “As the legal profession has grown and evolved over the years, it has become evermore important that we work together to uphold the high standards of the profession. By volunteering to be a committee member with the LADB, I hoped to help with that effort in a way that would have a positive impact on both the profession and our community.” Although he is not surprised by the amount of due process present in the discipline system, Jason is gratified to see that it is there. “By the time a matter reaches the Supreme Court, it has usually gone through a full hearing with a Hearing Committee and [potentially] an appeal with the LADB, giving a respondent an opportunity to respond to a complaint, present a defense, introduce evidence, and submit arguments. The system strives to achieve the balance of protecting the profession and the public while also protecting the due process rights of the respondent. Although no system is perfect, from my perspective, this one works really well.”
