Lindsay Meador Young takes a people-first approach to every case she handles. Whether representing a parent in a divorce and custody proceeding, a family member in an estate-related dispute, a property owner in a premises liability matter, or an insured in a professional liability case, Lindsay understands that litigation strategy and the outcome of each case deeply affects each of the parties involved. Her clients appreciate her ability to combine aggressive advocacy with timely service and an empathetic approach to solving their problems.

Lindsay focuses her practice on family law and estate planning, representing her clients in divorce and dissolution, prenuptial agreements, child custody and support, spousal support, community property partitions, division of assets/liabilities, and drafting wills and associated documents. In addition, she is an experienced defense litigator who handles matters in a variety of areas, including general litigation, premises liability, professional liability, and insurance defense.

A native of the Acadiana area, Lindsay is actively involved in the Lafayette community. She currently serves as President for the Lafayette Bar Association and has been recognized on numerous occasions for her extensive pro bono efforts in the community. Most recently, she received the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Friend of Pro Bono Award, and was recently awarded the Lafayette Bar Association’s Outstanding Service to the Bar Award. When not advising and advocating on behalf of her clients, Lindsay enjoys spending time with her husband and five-year-old son, playing with her four (yes four) dogs, hunting and fishing, and working out at the gym.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained primary custody for a father of his teenage son despite more than two prior attempts by others to do so.
  • Obtained ex parte temporary custody for a mother of her minor children and, ultimately, sole custody.
  • Aided a client with a partition of community property, saving more than $300,000.
  • Resolved a child custody and support case between parents so that they could continue to co-parent.
  • Finalized the intra-family adoption of a minor child to a step-parent.
  • Negotiated a high-conflict custody, support, and property case to a satisfactory resolution for the client.
  • Established a right-of-passage in favor of an enclosed estate, while in the same action reforming a cash sale to remove the cloud on a title related to the same estate.
  • Obtained summary judgement in an action to reform an act of sale wherein the incorrect party was named as the seller, creating a defect in the title that ultimately reduced the lender’s interest in the property.
  • Successfully defended a client against a property owner’s petition for injunctive relief using only oral argument.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a major site engineering firm, wherein the plaintiffs alleged that the engineers failed to provide a proper groundwater analysis during the construction of their home.
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of a commercial property owner when his title was at issue due to a defective tax sale. The judgment was based on the defendant’s tacit ratification of the subsequent sales and cleared title to his property, allowing it to be put back in commerce.
  • Successfully defended an insurer against the holder of an owner’s policy who brought wrongful claims for defense and indemnity based on a boundary line dispute. Summary judgment was granted in favor of the insurer after Galloway accurately defined and argued that the survey exception, a commonly used Schedule B exception, excluded coverage for the claims.
  • Secured a jury verdict for a defendant insured despite extensive medical treatment by the plaintiff and less than favorable liability facts.
