ABOUT

Autumn

Autumn George brings a strategic approach to representing both carriers and private businesses, collaborating closely with clients to develop early assessments of exposure or liability and implement cost-effective defense strategies. Her clients value her sharp focus and timely communication, whether the best resolution involves a negotiated settlement or an aggressive trial defense.

Specializing in civil litigation in state and federal courts, Autumn represents businesses in litigation—whether related to negligence, contractual disputes, or general risk management guidance. She also handles claims involving professional negligence, real property and code enforcement, property insurance, landlord-tenant, and condominium associations.

With experience trying cases in state and federal courts and before the Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims, Autumn’s background includes working with several federal judges, where she gained judicial insights that enhance her practice. As a licensed instructor in Florida, Autumn regularly delivers continuing education seminars on topics such as ethics and claims handling, tactical negotiations and trial strategy, and best practices. She also welcomes the opportunity to create tailored presentations to meet the specific needs of her clients.

Representative Matters

  • Secured trial win in auto accident transportation case in challenging and unpredictable venue by pivoting strategy and trial theme in real time based on evidence received days before trial began. Plaintiff sought $15 million in damages, and the jury awarded only $85,000, less than his medical bills, declined to award any damages for future care, and found that the Plaintiff did not suffer a permanent injury, resulting in no pain and suffering damages.
  • Obtained seldom-granted Motion to Dismiss for Fraud Upon the Court by presenting clear, convincing, and admissible evidence that plaintiff had lied and engaged in fraudulent behavior concerning her medical history and quality of life claims.
  • Secured voluntary dismissal the day before scheduled summary judgment motion hearing of a case involving allegations of overserving at a sports bar & grill leading to a motorcycle/vehicle accident.
  • Obtained a favorable jury outcome on behalf of a national HVAC company in which the jury awarded less than a 1/3 of the requested amount to the plaintiff, saving our client more than $1MM.
  • Secured dismissal of a law firm associated with a foreclosure proceeding in a case seeking more than $3MM.
  • Obtained a favorable settlement in a heavily litigated $1MM hurricane claim after taking the deposition of a corporate representative of a commercial business. The plaintiff settled for $25,000, 2.5% of the amount demanded.
  • Secured summary judgment on behalf of a restaurant in a slip-and-fall case based on improper stacking of inferences.
  • Secured voluntary dismissal, prior to a summary judgment motion hearing, of a case involving negligence and strict liability of a plumbing company.
  • Obtained a final compensation order for a regional delivery company denying the compensability of an employee classification claim.
  • Obtained a defense verdict for a business owner in a premises liability case based on lack of duty.
